The Loss of a Brother

Norest Godknows Phiri went home to be with our Eternal Father on Saturday. He was a brother and an integral part of our work in Zimbabwe, Africa. He was a man that knew God and desired to worship and praise Him, no matter what. Born with HIV/AIDS he couldn’t say why he was going through these trials, but he didn’t lose hope in our LORD, desiring to glorify Him through all of his many trials.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” – 1 Corinthians 4:16-18

We mourn the loss of a friend and brother, but rejoice also, knowing that he is now at peace and that we will one day be able to worship with one another again. When we think of Godknows we think of joy, for he was a kid that absolutely and wholeheartedly lived with it. He had the biggest smile and was always wearing it. He was selfless, always helping and thinking of others. He had a servants heart and the Friend’s of Zimbabwe children’s home, feeding program, and education program would not exist the same without his help. He was a guide that led us around Zimbabwe giving us direction, being there for us, predicting the weather, and always looking out for us in so many ways on our daily journeys in Zimbabwe. Godknows was truly a man of God and such a unique individual. Thinking of him reminds us how we should live with joy despite hard situations. He was a joy and a blessing to know and we will miss him very much.

We ask for prayers of comfort, peace, and support for those who knew him, supported him, and all those at the Friend’s of Zimbabwe Children’s Home who mourn his passing. Below are a few pictures of this wonderful man that went home to be with Christ.  If you feel led, we also ask for your support in helping keep the work he participated in alive via the link below.
